Why Must We Choose?
April 20th, 2010
A follow-up to our earlier piece DC Voting Rights, inspired by Deal on D.C. vote in House to be revived (Washington Post 4/15/10) and D.C. voting rights bill likely dead for this session (WashingtonPost.com 4/20/10).
Why should we have to trade one freedom for another?
Why shouldn’t DC residents have the same rights as every other?
Shouldn’t DC residents be allowed to set local policy
Like residents of every other State and/or municipality?
The answer is, yes we should.
And if we were a state, we would.

For another poem about a Hobson’s choice, read Into the Lions’ Den. (As described in I’m Stupak, at least that one had a somewhat happier ending).
