Today’s the Day

September 20th, 2011

Inspired by A day, at last, open and fear-free (Washington Post9/20/11).

September 20:

Today’s the day,

If you’re a soldier,

And you’re gay.

Today’s the day

You’ve been waiting for.

You don’t have to

Pretend anymore.

Today’s the day

You can stop lying

With an unjust policy

To be complying.

Today’s the day

Gay military personnel

Can finally say goodbye

To Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

To reach full equality

There’s still lots to be done,

But at least now

It’s begun.
