The Junk Shot

May 11th, 2010

The Gulf of Mexico oil leak is getting worse and BP is running out of options to stop it.

No, this isn’t a post about Chatroulette

(That would make it our most risqué yet).

It’s about BP’s latest leak-plugging endeavor

(There is a risk it will backfire, however).

As Chris Hayes reports (watch the video below),

Whether it will work we (and BP) just don’t know.

But since the containment dome failed, it’s all we can now do

To not allow the oil leak to indefinitely continue.

Unfortunately, there’s a risk this will make things worse,

Which is why BP to this approach was initially adverse.

But now they no longer have an alternative,

This Hail Mary pass a chance to give.

How does this “junk shot” work? As Chris opined,

They try to plug up the valve box with anything they can find.

It’s like the guy in the Kohler toilet commercial

That tries to clog up his toilet to meet the sexy plumber girl.

Oil leak estimates have been upped to 5-25 thousand barrels per day,

Which means this spill will set a new record any day.

Unless the “junk shot” stops it,

It may be a while before another spill tops it.

Here’s the Kohler toilet commercial. Hopefully, BP’s “junk shot” will be more successful than this guy’s efforts.

And here’s your theme music for today, Let Me Put My Junk In Your Trunk by Chi’mo Jones, accompanied by video clips about the containment dome, its failure, and the leak’s continued gushing.
