A follow-up to Not Raped Enough, inspired by Virginia’s Proposed Ultrasound Law Is an Abomination (Slate 2/16/12 18:57) and CNN Contributor Dana Loesch Defends Virginia ‘State-Sponsored Rape’ Bill As No Different Than Consensual Sex (ThinkProgress 2/19/12 10:58).
“Wait a minute, they had no problem having similar to a trans-vaginal procedure when they engaged in the act that resulted in their pregnancy.” – right-wing blogger Dana Loesch radio interview
“[These women already decided to be] vaginally penetrated when they got pregnant.” – An unnamed VA State House Republican
“If we want to talk about invasiveness, there’s nothing more invasive than the procedure that she is about to have.” – the bill’s sponsor in the House of Delegates State Rep. Kathy Byron (a Republican, natch)
“So if a woman has sex with her boyfriend on a Tuesday, she is actually consenting to being raped by a stranger in an ally on Wednesday? Is this a new defense for rapists. Basically once she’s no longer a virgin she is consenting to allow any man insert himself from that point on?” – top Thinkprogress commenter James Blue
To Virginia’s fallen women:
Virtue lost can ne’r be regained.
It’s too late now: you should have abstained.
If you’re not a virgin, then you’re a whore:
Being penetrated once means you don’t have rights anymore.
Were you raped? It doesn’t matter: there’s no exception
(Of course, we also don’t believe in contraception).
You’re obviously of low morals, since you had carnal relations.
Who cares if you have a few forced vaginal penetrations?
