Palin Free February
Monday, January 31st, 2011
Inspired by I’m declaring February a Palin-free month. Join me! (Dana Milbank, Washington Post 1/21/11).
It may be myopic
Given that she may be my favorite topic,
But I’m joining in on Palin free February.
I have a feeling it will be hard (very).
She’s the embodiment of all I oppose
And attempt with my blog to forthrightly expose:
Bigotry, hypocrisy, stupidity, and hate,
The opposite of everything that made our country great.
I admit that I write about her often.
Without her, will my tone soften?
If so, perhaps I’ll make a contribution
To the new civility revolution.
More important, the ban will deny Palin the attention she’s craved,
Which may be the only way our nation can be saved.
Maybe, if we all just stop talking about her
We’ll find we can get along just fine without her.
Will I be able to do without?
Without her, what will I write about?
I don’t know if I can quit, but I’ll try it.
Seekers of Palin news will have to find others to supply it.
So starting tomorrow, Newsericks will be Palin-less
(Now if we can only get the right-wing media to cover her less).
