Inspired by Joe Walsh taking heat for remarks on opponent’s military service (WashingtonPost.com7/03/12).
“I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.” – singer-songwriter Joe Walsh “Our true heroes, the men and women who serve us, that’s the last thing they talk about.” — Rep. Joe Walsh, apparently having selected the latter, upbraiding his opponent for supposedly talking to much about her service in Iraq, where she lost both legs and part of an arm; Walsh later attempted to walk his statement back by saying “unlike most veterans I have had the honor to meet since my election to Congress, who rarely if ever talk about their service or the combat they’ve seen, that is darn near all of what Tammy Duckworth talks about.”
Illinois’s Representative Walsh seems to rejoice
In having taken his namesake’s non-alcoholic choice.
What else would explain his consistently idiotic pronouncements,
Like this week’s twin tactless and dim-witted announcements.
Joe, Tammy Duckworth may have lost both legs serving in Iraq,
But at least she survived, and came back.
And though you are attacking her sacrifice for your own personal gain,
At least she, unlike you, still has a brain.
Here are Martin Bashir’s and Hardball’s 7/03/12 panel discussions (Tammy Duckworth herself appears on Martin).
Here’s Rep. Walsh’s full statement. BTW, Rep. Walsh: your non-lobotomized namesake endorses your opponent.
Here’s my favorite Joe Walsh song (the singer, not the hopefully soon-to-be-ex Congressman), Life’s Been Good. It seems particularly relevant to Rep. Walsh’s situation, since he shares the obliviousness which the song satirically describes.
