Inspired by the Ed Show’s panel discussion tonight about the varying responses that border communities are taking to the border kids crisis.
“As more children reach border patrol stations, resources and patience are dwindling. Communities by the border are divided on how to respond. Some residents are working with the church, looking for ways to provide material and spiritual care for the families being processed. Others are putting their faith in newly formed civilian militias whose leaders say they’re prepared to provide the manpower to secure the border.” – Prof. Michael Eric Dyson, subbing for Ed tonight
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon… Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” – Jesus (Mathew 6:24 and 26:52)
Obama once said something that made some people mad
Even though it wasn’t that bad.
He said some people to God and guns cling,
Which really pissed off the right wing.
It turns out that what made that statement incorrect:
Was the “and” that those two G-words connect.
As the Bible says, you can’t serve two masters:
You have to chose between militia bosses and pastors.
You have to chose between those who trust in Heaven,
And those who worship only their AK-47.
You have to chose between priests and the Posse Comitatus
That wants to hunt down those with undocumented status.
The idea that the two go together is flawed:
You have to chose between guns and God.
Here‘s the Ed Show’s 7/11/14 panel discussion.
