Twirl, Interrupted (or: I’m Not Picking Up Good Gyrations)

Thursday, December 20th, 2012

Inspired by Boehner Dancing on the Edge of the Fiscal Cliff (Wonkwire 12/20/12).

“This is some sort of dance.” – Luke Russert
“It’s very, very, very unfortunate that Republicans are wasting an entire week on these pointless political stunts. This is absolutely senseless. These are gyrations I’ve never seen before.” – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid earlier today
“The House did not take up the tax measure today because it did not have sufficient support from our members to pass.”  – Speaker Boehner statement tonight after pulling Plan B due to Tea Party opposition

In his effort to come out on top,

Speaker Boehner tried to spin like a top.

Alas for the Speaker, his dance was interrupted,

And his plan to outfox Dems disrupted.

Boehner’s advances were met with denial

From those on his own side of the aisle.

The Speaker bet big, but lost that bet,

And failed to complete his pirouette.

Sometimes, when you get carried away and start twirling around,

You end up flat on your face on the ground.

Here’s Lawrence’s 12/20/12 report on the self-destruction of Speaker Boehner’s “Plan B,” including Luke Russert’s and Senate Majority Leader Reid’s quotes at the beginning of the clip.

Here’s your theme music, and the partial inspiration for our title, Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys.

Here’s a scene from the movie that inspired our title, Girl Interrupted. Is Speaker Boehner taking his tactical cues from Lisa (Angelina Jolie’s character)?
