Good Job, Teach

Inspired by Teaching? Don’t go there (Sharon Liao, Washington Post 5/18/13 page A15), and ‘Good job, teach’: Educators emerge as heroes in Okla. tragedy (Today.com 5/21/13).

“We had to pull a car out of a front hallway off a teacher. I don’t know what that lady’s name is, but she had three little kids underneath her. Good job, Teach.” — Oklahoma tornado survivor

The next time budgets are cut

And teachers are fired,

Remember the teachers

Who all of us have inspired.

They inspired us in the classroom

When we were young,

Something for which

They’re usually unsung.

But in Oklahoma and elsewhere

They offered much more

Than we could ever

Pay them for.

Remember those teachers

For what they did.

How many people are willing to die

To save your kid?
