Dissing DC (or: Now That’s What I Call Taxation Without Representation)
Wednesday, January 5th, 2011
Inspired by Norton will lose ability to vote on floor amendments (WashingtonPost.com 12/22/10), Dismaying times for D.C. voting rights (WashingtonPost.com 12/23/10), and Norton fails in effort to prevent loss of Committee of the Whole vote (WashingtonPost.com 1/05/11 3:53 p.m.).
It’s mostly sybolic, but hurts anyway:
The Repubs have taken DC Rep. Norton’s vote away.
Come on, Speaker Boehner, where’s the love?
Is it that we’re black? Democrat? Federal? All of the above?
Your Teabaggers mouth colonial complaints about taxation,
And yet you deny us even that pitiful representation?
What happened to your vaunted commitment to democracy?
Sorry, but that’s what I call hypocrisy.
