Some People

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Inspired by Mitt Romney’s protestation that there may be some people might engage in vulture capitalism, but of course he never would.

“There’s this fiction that some have that somehow you can be highly successful by stripping assets from enterprise and walking away with lots of money and killing the enterprise. There may be some people that know how to do that. I sure don’t.” — Romney’s response to the Obama campaign’s Bain Capital ad

Some people are vultures,

But surely not Mitt.

Why, he wouldn’t even

Know how to do it.

Some people live each week

In fun and play.

They might even strip a company’s assets

And walk away.

Some people live with much

And care the least

As long as their wealth

Can be increased.

Of course Mitt Romney

Isn’t that way at all.

He’d never read a list of workers names

And then fire them all.

By the way, Mitt,

In case younever knew,

The people you fired

Were some people too.

Here’s your theme music, Some People by the legendary Chuck Berry (read the very applicable song lyrics below).

Here’s Mitt’s statement (at the 5”30 mark) and subsequent discussion of it 5/17/12 on Martin Bashir.

Some People by Chuck Berry lyrics:
Some people live each week in fun and play
From sweat by you and by me
While we must toil so long each day
Just to stay alive and free.

Some people live in homes, so content and reposed
Unrushed through all the woe
While we share that woe
With those who have no woe at all.

Some people live with much and care the least
If war should end or stay
While we, with less, pay more for peace
Uum, why should it be this way ?

Oh, the day’s sure to come
When we would have to live
In love and peace and happiness
And we will have the will to love
And to give to those who do have less.
