Inspired by House GOP tweaks Obama, schedules vote on Keep Your Health Plan Act (The Hill 11/06/13) about Rep. Fred Upton’s plan to “fix” Obamacare by allowing insurance companies to offer non-ACA compliant plans indefinitely, including to new customers.

“Notwithstanding any provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (including any amendment made by such Act or by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010), a health insurance issuer that has in effect health insurance coverage in the individual market as of January 1, 2013, may continue after such date to offer such coverage for sale during 2014 in such market outside of an Exchange established under section 1311 or 1321 of such Act.” — Rep. Fred Upton’s proposal is the pump that brings new, young, and relatively healthy customers into the insurance pool, thus reducing costs for everyone.

Moving people away from inferior old plans is like the handle to that pump: It pushes people into the market and encourages them to buy better plans.

The Upton plan is trying to remove that handle, and hence irreversibly sabotage Obamacare. They’re not trying to fix Obamacare, they’re trying to destroy it, like the Vandals of old.

Or, in summary:

The pump won’t work if the vandals take the handle.

Here‘s your theme song, Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan.
