Admit You’re a Vulture
Thursday, May 17th, 2012
A follow-up to Some People, inspired by Mitt Romney’s protestation that he would never, ever engage in vulture capitalism.
“There’s this fiction that some have that somehow you can be highly successful by stripping assets from enterprise and walking away with lots of money and killing the enterprise. There may be some people that know how to do that. I sure don’t.” — Romney’s response to the Obama campaign’s Bain Capital ad
Vulture capitalism, Mitt, is just what you did
When you behind that big Bain banner hid.
Maybe those closed factories didn’t on you make an impression,
But they did for the communities plunged into depression.
Sure, some of your victims survived, but many did not.
You may not remember, but they surenever forgot.
Is your memory incurably defective,
Or is it just somewhat selective?
“There may be such a thing, but I don’t know anyone,
And you can be sure I myself wasn’t one.”
All that we ask of you, Mitt
Is that you just what you did admit.

Here’s Mitt’s statement (at the 5”30 mark) and subsequent discussion of it 5/17/12 on Martin Bashir. (I also liked Joan Walsh’s “hate porn” comment about the Ricketts Plan.)
