Squashing Your Freedom (or: Men Wouldn’t Like Their Rights Being Taken Away Either)

April 5th, 2012

Inspired by RNC Chair Reince Priebus’s comment comparing women to caterpillars.

“Now if the Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars and every mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that Republicans have a war on caterpillars, then we’d have  problems with caterpillars. I mean, the fact of the matter is it’s a fiction.” – RNC Chair Reince Priebus

“It might not have been the best analogy, but the truth is, there’s really not a gender problem with the Republican party. Women, conservatives, and liberals, for that matter, they’re multi-issue candidates, they’re concerned about jobs, they’re concerned about the economy. So, you know, Republicans are embracing men, women and all folks. But the main thing is women are just like men. They want jobs, they want the economy to turn around, they want to be able to provide for their families just like the men do.” — Rick Santorum campaign press secretary Alice Stewart on Andrea Mitchell

It’s unfair to say that Republicans are waging a war on women:

It’s only a war on women that disagree with them.

Those women (aka Feminazis) must be squashed like the disgusting bugs they are–

Women’s rights has just gone too far!

And it’s true, that in many ways, women are just like men:

Most don’t want to go back to the Great Bush Recession again.

Nor would men want their basic rights and choices taken away,

Because of what a bunch of right-wing fundamentalists say.

But that’s something Republican men seem not to understand,

Perhaps because they, unlike women, have never experienced it first hand.

And BTW, Reince, women are smarter than you lamented:

They wouldn’t think there was a war on women if it had been by the media invented.

That clever comment of yours that you said so disdainfully and dryly

Just shows that you don’t think of women very highly.

Ms. Stewart: I get the denial, though I don’t see how you can believe it.

There won’t be much of a GOP left if most of the women leave it.

And Republican women, if this bugs you as much as me,

Then in November, don’t vote GOP.
