Most Americans would have knowing

That our economic pie has been growing.

Strange, that is, but I wonder why

Fewer and fewer are getting a piece of that pie?

Could it be by deliberate design

Of those who have been doing just fine?

The richest 10% are doing fantastic

And now are even more enthusiastic.

But while they’re movin’ to deluxe mansions across town,

The rest of us are either treading water, or movin’ down.
