A follow-up to our earlier post, Heil Jesus?, inspired by Glenn Beck to Jesus: Drop Dead (Huffington Post 3/08/10), Rev. Jim Wallis: Glenn Beck Is Wrong, Social Justice Is At The Heart Of Gospel (Huffington Post 3/12/10), Jim Wallis: Glenn Beck, Immigration, and Social Justice (Huffington Post 5/06/10), the video clips below, and the “Twitterstorm” which Jewish Funds for Justice unleashed on Glenn in response to Glenn’s social justice comments.“I beg you, look for the words ‘social justice’ or ‘economic justice’ on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes.” — Glenn Beck 3/02/10 (watch the full video clip below) “And now… for the sake of retaining a remission of your sins from day to day, that ye may walk guiltless before God—I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.” – The Book of Mormon (which Glenn professes to follow), Mosiah 4:26, as cited in A Mormon Response to Glenn Beck’s Attack on Social Justice by Jana Riess, co-author of Mormonism for Dummies (which you, Glenn, should read). Also check out this website: Mormons for Equality and Social Justice.
I see you’re at it again.
Your understanding of social justice is just plain wrong
(Certainly not consistent with the religion to which you profess to belong).
The Mormon Church
Has left you in the lurch.
You now need a new one, but where to begin?
May I suggest a church in Kansas where I think you’d fit in?

A propos losing religion, if you’re thinking of getting S.E. Cupp’s new book (coming out May 14) Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media’s Attack on Christianity, read these reviews first (not you though Glenn, since I’m sure you’ll like it). But Glenn, here’s a different book that I think you should check out instead. It might enlighten you about the role of social justice in Christianity. It’s called The New Testament.
