Life and Death Email
February 11th, 2010
Semi-random free-verse musings on life, death, and the hereafter…
An email is alive.
It’s a thought, or a series of though, that is created, and then takes on an existence all it’s own.
It can be forwarded, responded to, or misunderstood.
It can give rise to other thoughts that it’s creator might never have come up with.
Once you press “send,” that email takes on a life of its own.
If you change your mind, you can try “recall”
But that usually doesn’t work.
When it’s deleted, it dies.
It ceases to exist.
It disappears.
But, it may leave behind traces.
Pieces or copies of itself on servers, or on recipients’ computers,
And all the other thoughts that it in turn generated.
In those, it lives on, maybe forever.
Does the same happen with us?
I hope so.
