Lemon Pledge

March 26th, 2010

A follow up to my earlier piece about the Republican pledge to repeal the healthcare reform bill, Repeal Reveal.

“When Americans figure out that insurance companies can no longer deny them coverage because, as it happens, they urgently need it, and when they discover that their kids can remain covered until age 26 and when they can for the first time afford health insurance themselves, this law will become untouchable. Self interest usually trumps ideology.” – Richard Cohen, It’s progress, not socialism (Washington Post 3/23/10)

The GOP pledge to repeal

Lasted about a day,

Then it quietly

Went away.

That sure was a pledge

That didn’t last long.

Sorry, but I think it was a lemon

All along.
