JD, You’re Still An Idiot
May 24th, 2010
A follow-up to our earlier piece about Mr. Hayworth in which he and other Tea Party candidates demonstrate their knowledge of history and current events.
“But I would also point out, that if we want to be sticklers, the war that Dwight Eisenhower led in Europe against the Third Reich was never declared by the United States Congress. Recall, the Congress passed a war resolution against Japan. Germany declared war on us two days later. We never formally declared war on Hitler’s Germany, and yet we fought the war.” – JD HayworthThere’s nothing more irritating
And infuriating
Than someone who looks down on you ’cause they’re so smart
When they’re really as bright as a tractor part.
They say those who don’t understand history are doomed to repeat it.
Did you take a History class in college, Mr. Hayworth? Did you complete it?
If so, your recent statement about World War II
Suggests that you need a review.
You talk as if your “facts” are not in doubt,
But you really don’t know what you’re talking about.
That seems to be a common Republican trait,
One’s own made up facts with reality to equate.
Unfortunately, as Keith’s report shows
(And any observer of politics knows),
Though he comes across as a bumbling fool,
Hayworth is not the exception but the rule.
Other members of the Tea Party crowd
Seem to be of their ignorance proud
(Most notably, Idaho Republican candidate Vaughn Ward,
Who wins the both-ignorant-and-obnoxious award).
It appears that listening to Professor Beck’s history lessons
Actual knowledge of history and current events lessens.
(Professor Beck also teaches that facts aren’t as big a deal,
As what you personally want to be real.)
Keith also refers to the idea Tom Tancredo expressed
To bring back the civics and literacy test.
That’s such a good plan that I’d hate to derail it
With the suggestion that your own candidates would fail it.

Here’s Sen. McCain’s ad on the subject, which also references Radar Online’s ranking of then-Congressman Hayworth as one of America’s top ten dumbest politicians (Hayworth was #4). I haven’t agreed with McCain much lately, but I have to say I agree with him about this.
And here’s the inspiration for our title, from the excellent series Scrubs.
This isn’t JD’s first attempt to rewrite history, as shown in this 3/16/10 report on the Rachel Maddow Show. (Rachel also talks about Hayworth’s man-horse marriage comment and misrepresentation thereof.)
