Insulting Stay-At-Home Moms (You Forgot the Magic Words…)

May 1st, 2012

Inspired by the recent Republican attacks on stay-at-home moms.

“Men work an average of 44 hours a week. Women work 41 hours a week.” — Alex Castellanos Sunday on Meet the Press, helpfully explaining to Rachel Maddow why it’s not true that women don’t earn less than men

“When you compare men and women in the same positions with the same experience, the same education, there is no pay gap. Men on average work eight hours per week more than a woman.” – Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers yesterday on The Kudlow Report

“So is the right now going to condemn Castellanos and Rodgers to death?
Sorry, but don’t hold your breath.” — Newsericks

How dare you say women don’t work as hard as men,

Insulting stay-at-home moms again and again?

Are you forgetting the work women do around the house,

Little of which is done by their non-mom spouse?

Like Hilary Rosen, you left out the magic phrase

Absence of which sent the right into a craze.

You both are clearly guilty of anti-mom syndrome

Because you didn’t specify work “outside the home.”

How could you all American moms so cruelly insult?

Prepare for the outrage which will surely result!
