Hip Hip Hooray, There’s (Basically) No Stay
August 12th, 2010
The follow-up to my earlier piece, Oh Don’t You Stay.
Judge Walker has (sort of) followed my advice,
Although lifting the stay immediately would have been nice.
The stay will be lifted on August 18 at 5:00 p.m.,
So CA gays that want to marry will have to wait until then.
Not only that, the personal liberty issue notwithstanding,
Walker ruled defendants can’t appeal because they don’t have standing.
It looks like CA gays will indeed have to a little but longer to wait
Before they can legally conjugate.

Here’s your theme music for today (making a repeat performance), Stay by Jackson Browne from the album Running on Empty (it’s set to begin at the “Won’t You Stay” part, but you can restart it at the beginning if you want to listen to the whole song). I guess CA gays will have to wait just a little bit longer…
