Inspired by Mitt Romney’s statement about the President’s response to the attack on our Consulate in Libya and Embassy in Egypt.
“When our grounds are being attacked and being breached, that the first response of the United Statesmust be outrage at the breach of the sovereignty of our nation.” – Mitt Romney at press conference in Jacksonville “When our grounds are being attacked and being breached, that the first response of candidates for the President of theUnited Statesmust be outrage at the breach of the sovereignty of our nation, not a strident, politically-opportunistic, and factually-incorrect attack on the incumbent President.” – me
Not only is Mitt being unethical and unhelpful, he’s also incorrect,
And not just in his interference and lack of respect.
The statement he’s attacking was made 6 hours before the attacks:
Before you open your mouth, Mr. Romney, please get the facts.
The Administration’s actual response after the attack was indeed one of condemnation
Of the attack on our embassy grounds, diplomats, and hence our nation.
What’s worst, Mr. Romney is the practiced cynical nonchalance
With which you perpetrated your factually-inaccurate first response.
What’s worst is how in a move worthy of Lady Macbeth
You tried to score political points with our diplomats’ death.
This craven attempt, Mr. Romney, your base’s Muslim-haters to mollify
Should you from holding our Nation’s highest office disqualify.
Here’s Mitt’s full statement about the attack on the Consulate in Libya and protests at the Embassy in Egypt. The “first response” quote is at the 6”45 mark.
