Dream On
September 22nd, 2010
As reported in Senate Republicans hold up Dream Act for children of immigrants (Washington Post 9/22/10), the Dream Act (which had already passed the House) has been defeated in the Senate. Each and every Republican voted against it..
Orrin Hatch sponsored the exact same legislation before,
But now he doesn’t want to support it anymore.
The Dream Act would illegal immigrants’ kids value acknowledge
By letting them become citizens if they join the military or go to college.
In the past, many Republicans supported the Dream Act,
But now instead of voting for it, they’ve attacked.
They’re blocked the Act, along with the whole Defense Authorization
Because they’re supported by the Obama Administration.
As I said before, if Dems dared oppose anything in the GOP’s Defense bill,
Republicans cried “traitor” and “against the troops” to bend Dems to their will.
This is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard–
It’s base politics, in both sense of the word.
The blatant hypocrisy and pandering couldn’t be clearer.
How, Republicans, do you look in the mirror?
I used to think bipartisanship had a chance,
But how can it survive when the GOP takes such a stance?
Now, all the GOP has to say to illegal immigrant kids is “dream on”….
At least until this Republican leadership is gone.
For illegal immigrants’ kids, it wasn’t a good day.
Now, maybe tomorrow someone will take them away.
