Dr. No (or: 9-11 Responders’ Response)
December 22nd, 2010
Inspired by Ground Zero Workers Visit Coburn’s Office To Beg Him To Lift Hold On 9/11 First Responders Bill (ThinkProgress 12/22/10 10:00 a.m.) and Firefighters urge Coburn to drop opposition to 9/11 bill (The Hill 12/22/10 8:32 a.m.).
Dr. Coburn, I don’t think the country approves of your plan
To let the 9-11 responders die off to a man.
Your oath as a doctor was to “first, do no harm,”
Your breaking of which has caused your constituents alarm.
There have been hearings, contrary to your claim–
Just watch the video of the empty chair bearing your name.
Why are you so unmitigatingly hostile
To the first responders harmed by their work on the pile?
They came from all over the country to help us all,
And you made them come to DC and wait in your hall.
]Here’s a concept that may seem strange:
Try listening to them (and your constituents) for a change.
