Better Stuff to Do
May 4th, 2011
A follow-up to Obama’s Been Leadin’, They’ve Been Lyin’, inspired by Trash talk: Why is our discourse driven by buffoons? (Kathleen Parker, Washington Post 4/29/11) and Ultimately, birthers take a hit too (Washington Post 5/03/11).
“[J]ust recently, in an episode of Celebrity Apprentice at the steakhouse, the men’s cooking team cooking did not impress the judges from Omaha Steaks. And there was a lot of blame to go around. But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership. And so ultimately, you didn’t blame Lil’ Jon or Meatloaf. You fired Gary Busey. And these are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled, sir. Well handled.” – President Obama to The Donald 4/30/11 at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner
“While some Republicans were talking about Obama’s birth certificate, Obama was preparing bin Laden’s death certificate.” – Republican Peter King, who to his credit never subscribed to Birtherism
Obama said he had better stuff to do.
Now we know what he was referring to.
While the far right was spinning out conspiracies and lies,
Obama was tracking down and acting against the bad guys.
The contrast between Obama and the buffoons couldn’t be clearer.
I hope the voters remember that as the 2012 elections get nearer.
