Be Like Bill

May 9th, 2012

Inspired by Mitt Romney’s new hero: Bill Clinton (Politco 5/08/12).

“President Clinton, remember he said the era of big government was over. President Obama brought it back with a vengeance… President Clinton made efforts to reform welfare as we know it. But President Obama is trying tirelessly to expand the welfare state, with more promises and more programs, more benefits, more spending.” – Mitt Romney yesterday inMichigan

Mitt Romney keeps on hintin’

That he’s the next William Jefferson Clinton.

Mitt, that’s a little hard to do

When Clinton supports Obama instead of you.

Opining how your hero someone’s positions would deplore

Is one thing when he’s not around anymore.

It’s another to do it while your hero’s still living.

(Reality, alas, is much less forgiving.)

Mr. Romney, I met Bill Clinton, and you ain’t him,

And your chances of convincing people of that are slim.

No matter how much you with historical facts fiddle,

You can’t make people believe that you’re in the middle.

Here’s Mitt yesterday in Michigan. I wonder why he didn’t talk about his position on Detroit.
