The Party of Fiscal Bondage and Discipline
April 1st, 2010
A follow up to our earlier posts Grand Old Sex Party and Attention: Deficit Disorder.
“We’re the party of fiscal discipline,” Republicans like to say,
But I didn’t know they meant it that way.
I thought they were against gay sex
(Maybe they make an exception for play sex).
Or maybe it’s that they just don’t like guy-guy,
And their objections to girl-on-girl action just don’t apply.
Actually, it is thanks to the GOP that America is in fiscal bondage,
And not just because of the Alaskan GOP’s Nowhere Bridge.
Bush doubled the debt and created a major recession
That required Obama’s forceful financial intercession.
And though the GOP criticized healthcare reform
And attempted the public of its $130 billion in savings to misinform,
They (and we) shouldn’t forget
That they passed $2.4 trillion in tax cuts for the rich without one penny offset.
And in spite of the GOP’s fiscal stances,
Bondagegate proves they can’t even manage GOP internal finances.
(And that’s without even bothering to look back
To all the spending improprieties and fraud the GOP perpetrated in Iraq.)
So given the GOP’s record, it’s hard their current calls for responsibility to heed.
Maybe a little more discipline is just what Republicans need.
