Prosperity for the Prosperous
April 5th, 2011
Inspired by The GOP Path to Prosperity (Paul Ryan, Wall Street Journal 4/05/11).
The GOP Path to Prosperity is great for the already prosperous.
For the rest of us, it’s just preposterous.
Paul Ryan is telling the truth that his plan will bring prosperity,
It’s just that it will be coupled with increasing income disparity.
The already rich will keep on getting more and more,
With less and less going to the increasing ranks of the poor.
Don’t have time to read Rep. Ryan’s full plan?
Well, here’s a way to quickly understand.
If it’s a program you’ve hated for years, gut it.
If it’s a program for the working or middle class, cut it.
And if you’re not poor yourself, don’t forget:
According to Paul Ryan’s plan, you’re just not poor yet.

Update: Here’s an excellent further discussion of the impact of Ryan’s budget on the poor and near-poor, Mr. Ryan’s Budget (Washington Post 4/06/11).
