Inspired by Why Wisconsin matters (E.J. Dionne, Washington Post 2/28/11) and the Hardball panel discussion on the conservative movement’s one-two punch to first open the spigots to unlimited corporate funding (with Citizens United), then shut down Dems’ main institutional funding source.
“Who runs this country? That is the basic issue at Kohler. That is the potential question for ALL industry. We must meet this issue fighting.” – Herbert Kohler, president of the Kohler kitchen and bath product manufacturer, to an anti-union audience in a 1950s Wisconsin union-management battle (I guess in his mind, the correct answer was Big Business)
How conservatives want to dramatically tilt the playing field.
It’s a carefully crafted one-two punch
That will allow Repubs to permanently eat Democrats’ lunch.
Wisconsin Repubs are also trying to make voter registration more difficult,
Since with fewer new younger voters, a more right-wing electorate will result.
They don’t care if it’s right; they don’t care if it’s fair
(Unless, of course, you’re a billionaire).
Here’s Hardball’s 2/28/11 panel discussion. I liked Gov. Quinn’s reference to Wisconsin Gov. “Skywalker.”
